Batac Comelec Unfazed by Low Turnout of SK Candidates

Batac City—With the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections barely two weeks away, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city is having difficulty with respect to the number of candidates for the SK election.

Batac Comelec records show that only one candidate has filed a certificate of candidacy for the SK kagawad post as of October 10, 2007.

BATAC CITY—The Sangguniang Panlungsod of this city declared June 23 as the anniversary date of their cityhood as they prepare to establish a commission that would undertake organization of various activities in the celebration with corresponding appropriation of funds.

Batac City—Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of this city unanimously approved a resolution requesting the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), through its general manager, a mobile x-ray unit for the city.

Batac Vice Mayor Proposes HS Scholarship Program

Batac City, Ilocos Norte - With a college scholarship program now firmly in place, Batac Vice Mayor Allan Nalupta has proposed that a similar scholarship program also be established for secondary students.

In line with this, Nalupta has sponsored an ordinance that would establish a secondary scholarship program in this city with the city government providing the funding.

Imelda Eyes Batac Eco-Park as FM Burial Ground

Batac CITY—Former First Lady Imelda Marcos may no longer be keen on having the remains of her husband be buried at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani when she led provincial officials in touring a mountainous site here as an eco-park and a proposed burial ground for the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

Mrs. Marcos offered a mass at the Batac church and at the air-conditioned mausoleum where her husband’s frozen remains are kept before boarding a four-wheel drive van that took her to the Maharlika eco-park in the village of San Pedro here.
