Batac City—Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of this city unanimously approved a resolution requesting the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), through its general manager, a mobile x-ray unit for the city.

Batac Councilor Bismark Quidang, a member of the council’s health committee, said this medical equipment request purposely aims to help patients who could not afford to undergo x-ray as per advise of a physician.

Quidang expressed hopes that the PCSO would grant their request as this would really help the needy people.

Should the request be granted, Quidang said the x-ray machine would be used during medical missions around the city.

However he added that the operator of the said medical equipment could still not be ascertained since the city government has no resident radiologist.

In view of this, the Batac councilor said the city government might request the services of private clinics or the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center radiologists.

The request was personally made by Quidang since he has learned that the PCSO has started giving mobile x-ray machines to LGUs around the country and he said he hopes that with a council resolution backing the request, the said government agency would grant it to Batac.

He further stated that the said resolution is his way of expressing his help to the people of Batac, especially in terms of health and public welfare.
